2016 – David P. Smith’s New Blues is a raw, original, live off the floor, fresh blood, 21st century take on blues forms.

Smith’s lyrical confidence and inventiveness is truly remarkable, lifting him not just above his local peers but into the top tier of Canadian music in general”   -Randy Gelling, CFUV Radio, Victoria, BC

“David P. Smith, has just released a terrific disc called New Blues. Influenced by artists such as Tom Waits and the Holy Modal Rounders, Smith is one of Victoria’s most interesting and artistically uncompromising singer-songwriters.” –Adrian Chamberlain, Victoria Times-Colonist

2012 – The Euphorians formed out of the band put together to release the David P. Smith album, Mantennae (Northern Electric). The band was large, unwieldy, complicated and seemed fated to disintegrate so a series of focused rehearsals were followed by two shows and this album was recorded live off the floor in the band's basement rehearsal space.

2009 – Mantennae marks a change and transition in mood, personnel, instrumentation and songwriting. Atmospheric pedal steel snakes through a couple of almost straight C&W numbers, cabaret meets funeral parade in the horn and ukelele ensemble, the piano makes its debut, a cameo vocal performance by B.A. Lampman… a gently eclectic, subtly addictive journey.

2006 – Absurd, hilarious, bombastic, bleak, wry and insightful, Striving for a New Tomorrow combines loads of off-the-floor energy with Tolan McNeil’s studio magic to create a jam-packed sonic smorgasborg.

2002 – Hurtin’ Dance Party. Includes the songs Muhammed Ali and Booze Party. Eclectic, textured, sometimes it rocks, sometimes it hurts, while “Smith’s talent for literate, sardonic word play infuses (the cd)…with large doses of funereal humour.” (Monday Magazine, August 2002). Hurtin’ Dance Party is loose, raw, moody and atmospheric and features some electrifying live off the floor takes.

2000 – The Dogbreath Brothers – The Early Beers. Smith’s first band exploded before they could release the CD, but this cleverly assembled collection of songs successfully captures the personality, energy, and humour of the band.
